Flow is wonderful zen like state of being. You will have experienced it yourself while fully immersed in an activity, playing with a child or pet, knitting , cooking, gardening, doodling, doing a puzzle or on your yoga mat.
Flow is characterised by complete absorption in the moment as you are fully immersed in the task at hand. While in this state external stimuli quieten as your focus is here in the present moment.
Each day there are opportunities to enter this state and boost your wellbeing. You may be shouting at the screen “ I wish I had the time for such a luxury” . Well let me tell you a secret, I don’t have time either but I make time, I give myself permission each day for little pockets of self care which for me is often creativity.
Start small, try and take five minutes each day to do something to experience flow. Once you feel the joy of flow you will want to gradually add more time to your self care each day. Gradually build up to twenty minutes each day which can be split into two ten minute chunks.
